Thomas Jefferson’s 275th Birthday
Pop some bubbly at Red Pump Kitchen to toast to Charlottesville’s beloved former president, Thomas Jefferson! April 13, 2018 marks the Founding Father’s 275th birthday. From Monticello to the University of Virginia, Charlottesville wouldn’t be the same without Jefferson’s lasting contributions. Our city also owes its affinity for winemaking to Jefferson. As the nation’s first viticulturist, he attempted to bring many European winemaking techniques to his own vineyards at Monticello.
To celebrate Jefferson’s birthday, order a glass of the Cuvee Thomas Jefferson Cremant de Limoux Rosé. Limoux, France is the birthplace of sparkling wine and a place Jefferson deeply admired. In fact, wine from Limoux was the only sparkling wine he kept in his wine personal cellar.
The Cremant de Limoux Rose is a blend of Chardonnay, Chenin, and Pinot Noir. It has a rich, indulgent texture and a long-lasting aroma of red fruit. Order it as an aperitif or pair it with our Wood-fired Beets, Brussels Sprouts, Seared Salmon, or Brussels Sprouts and Chevre pizzette.
