“Virginia Eggnog” Holiday Cocktail

James’s Virginia Eggnog recipe incorporates the spices of the season into this holiday classic, and if the seasonal flavors don’t bring a smile to your guests’ faces, the Bourbon sure will! “Virginia Eggnog” Ingredients

2 cups Whole milk

1/2 tsp. Fresh Ground Cinnamon

1/2 tsp. Fresh Ground Nutmeg

1 Vanilla Bean

6 large egg yolks

1/2 cup Granulated Sugar

1 cup Heavy Cream

1 cup Bowman Brothers Bourbon


Take a small saucepot combine milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla and bring the mixture to a small simmer over low heat. Simmer for 5 mins. Do not let it boil over.

On the side, in a large bowl, mix egg yolks with sugar, until sugar is fully dissolved. Add hot milk mixture slowly to egg yolks in 3 oz increments to slowly cook the egg mixture and whisk constantly until all the mix is added.

Return the base to saucepot and cook over low heat until the base slightly thickens, do not allow the base to boil. (The base should reach 160º).

Remove from the stove and add in heavy cream.

Refrigerate until fully chilled then add the Bowman Brothers Bourbon.

Serve in a chilled rocks glass with no ice.
